Has our author gone mad? Are shapes just not cool anymore? No. What you're looking at is a portrait of my good friend Jeremy Ruth done entirely in type. While the parameters of the class assignment include "Use nothing but type" I did a different version with a clean, black, background on the sly. That is what we are looking at.
My friend doesn't usually wander around with large black backgrounds and floating musical notes stalking his every move. (Though I'm sure if we willed it on the right day, it could happen) I added the background to better ground my image. All of the motion of the text got pretty lost amidst a white background. Don't believe me?
